How to Prepare for Fuyu Convention

Preparing for the upcoming Fuyu Anime and Manga Convention includes what to bring, what to wear and how to get the most out of the convention. Whether you’re a first-time attendee or a seasoned veteran, this guide will help you make the most of your time at Fuyu.

What To Bring to the Convention

Depending on how early you’re arriving, you may not need to bring much more than money and your convention badge. We recommend that you bring an extra bag just in case.

However, if you’re planning on staying through the entire convention weekend, there are some things that will make your time at Fuyu a lot more fun and convenient.

Here’s a list of things you should bring with you if possible:

  • Packed lunches or snacks (There are some great places to eat on Roosevelt, but remember that food court prices aren’t the cheapest!)
  • A portable battery charger can come in handy, especially around nighttime. If you have a laptop or a tablet or something else that requires an outlet, it may be worth bringing.
  • Printed copies of your favorite doujinshi! I know you’re all going to buy new ones, but sometimes you just want to reread your old favorites. It’s also nice to have something to do inline if there are any long waits.
  • A refillable water bottle! It’s going to be a hot day, and you will definitely need something to drink if you plan on staying hydrated. They also have a drinking fountain near the bathrooms, but it may be easier just to keep your own bottle on hand.
  • Earplugs or noise-canceling headphones. Fuyu is located in one of the busiest parts of downtown Seattle, so you will want some way to drown out the noise on Saturday.

What To Wear to the Convention

Despite its name, Fuyu is really more of a Fall event. The weather is usually gorgeous and sunny, but it can get pretty chilly at night. A windbreaker or light jacket is recommended just in case.

Here’s what we recommend:

  • Dress for the weather; you will especially want something warm to wear on Saturday night if it gets cold.
  • Comfortable shoes! You will be walking around all day, so remember to wear something that won’t give you blisters. Flip-flops or sandals are not recommended.
  • There will probably be cosplay events, so feel free to dress up too if you want! It’s not required, but it’s definitely encouraged.
