Hawks Cosplay My Hero Academia: How to Get Started

Cosplaying as Hawks from My Hero Academia is a great way to show your love for the anime and manga series. You might be wondering where to start, but we’ve got you covered with some tips on how to get started.

Cosplayers are often inspired by the characters in their favorite anime and manga series, and today we’ll be showing you how to make a Hawks cosplay from My Hero Academia. Let’s get started!

What You’ll Need

Once you have your materials, start by creating a base for the bodysuit. For this Hawks cosplay, we recommend using a bodysuit that is black on the inside and white on the outside from chest to waist. The neck should be connected, so it’s not open-ended before putting on the suit.

After you’ve created the white and black sections, you’ll want to make the gray and yellow sections of Hawk’s costume. Find a grey fabric (we used fleece) that closely resembles the color of Hawks’ costume.

Cut out large triangles in your grey fabric until your material is able to create three different gray sections for the suit. Once you’ve finished the grey sections, it’s time to move on to the yellow sections. Make sure to cut out three different-sized triangles in your fabric here as well.

For the wings on Hawks’ back, take three brown poster board sheets and cut them into small triangles that resemble feathers. The wings will eventually be glued onto adhesive fabric, but if you aren’t familiar with this process, it’s recommended to simply use glue.

Also, please note that poster board is not the same as construction paper – they are very different materials and should not be used interchangeably. Construction paper may cause the poster board to tear and rip while gluing.

Tips & Tricks

Find ways how to achieve similar results without spending too much money. We recommend buying sheets of white poster board vs. buying individual triangles for this cosplay.

If the large feathers do not fit on your board, you can cut them into smaller pieces until they do. Buying a single sheet of paper and cutting it into three equal pieces is much more economical than buying three separate sheets.

Next, glue the poster board feathers onto your bodysuit any way you see fit. Since we were layering our materials, we glued the small feathers on top of the large feathers. We also glued smaller parts of an individual feather together so they would fit evenly.

Final Results: How Does it Look?

Hawks’ costume is complete! You’ll want to make sure that your bodysuit can breathe once you’re finished, so we’d recommend sewing in a couple of holes around the waist area.

To quickly finish up the cosplay, we’d recommend using some liquid latex to seal off the seams of your bodysuit, so it doesn’t come apart. Also, don’t forget to make a few quips, and you’ll be ready to save the day.

First things first, you’ll need to find a good costume design. Since Hawks is already an existing character with its own look, you won’t have to put together your own costume from scratch.

However, if you want something that isn’t just a simple copy of what the character looks like in the anime, you’ll need to come up with a better idea than just putting together an outfit. Try to think of something that would be truly unique and could fit the bill as Hawks’ design.

If you’re truly skilled at cosplay, you might only need reference images from the manga and anime series to make your costume look exactly like the character. However, for most cosplayers who are just starting out, it would be helpful to have a clear idea of what the character looks like.

There are tons of resources online where you can find more information on Hawks’ appearance and even more images that can help you decide which materials you’ll need.

Don’t be afraid to ask some friends or online cosplay communities for help with creating your costume. It would be better if you had more than one person helping you.

This way, you can get all of the materials needed to make an accurate Hawks cosplay at a cheaper cost. Plus, it will also allow everyone working on the costumes to share their ideas and methods with each other.

Once your cosplay is complete, you can start thinking of how to perfect Hawks’ look. Sometimes it doesn’t matter if your costume looks exactly like what’s in the manga or anime series because sometimes, making a few changes could make your character stand out even more.

You might even have to take some photos of your cosplay so you can share them on social media.
